Rolly

Rolly is a cheerful pixie with a die in her hands and a surprise around every corner. Even a big capture can catch her by surprise. Start here when you want room to learn the rules and follow a whole turn.
How she plays
Section titled “How she plays”Rolly chooses a complete legal turn at random. She does not rank ordinary captures, build an attack or try to keep her own king safe. A strange move is part of her style.
There is one exception: if she can capture your king with her very first action, she does. She needs both a direct attack and the die for the attacking piece. If taking the king needs preparation, such as moving a blocker or making a second knight jump, she does not deliberately seek that combination. She can still find it by chance.
A king she will not miss
Section titled “A king she will not miss”In this teaching position Rolly is White. Her rook has a clear path up the a-file to your king, and she has rolled a Rook die. The two King dice do not distract her: she takes your king at once.
Playing against Rolly
Section titled “Playing against Rolly”- Use the breathing room to practice spending all the dice and planning the order of your actions.
- Look for exposed pieces and paths to her king; she does not deliberately defend them.
- Keep your own king out of direct attack. Easy still means she can win when the right die arrives.
Hear her voice
Section titled “Hear her voice”A greeting, a delighted gasp at a big capture, and a cheerful handoff when the dice offer nothing. These are three of her in-game lines.
Hey! Let's roll and see what happens!
Whoa! Did I really just grab that big piece?!
Oops, nowhere to go! Your turn!
Rolly also has a separate set of lines as a host for two friends sharing a remote. In that role she supports both players.
